The Digital Media Practices among Foreign Youth in China
Based on the perspective of everyday cosmopolitanism,this study aims to explore how digital media practices promote and impede the daily practices among foreign youth in China.According to the findings,in the aspects of making decisions to come to China,and adopting to Chinese social and cultural environment and so on,the digital media practices can empower these foreign youth in China;in the aspects of daily life,career development and social interaction and so on,the digital media practices can bring dilemmas to these foreign youth in China,hence they should develop their agency to overcome these dilemmas;for these foreign youth in China,the digital media practices can ultimately shape the process of practicing cosmopolitanism at the daily level.Focusing on how foreign youth from the Global South in China perform everyday cosmopolitanism through digital media practices,this study tries to reexamine this discourse regarding the cosmopolitanism is mainly restricted to mobile elites from the Globe North,and expands the depth and breadth of this analysis framework.
