The Changing Tendency of Contemporary Chinese Youth's Sense of Social Fairness and Its Shaping Mechanisms
Youth's sense of social fairness is crucial to social stability and sound development.Based on the data of Chinese Social Survey(2013-2021),this study uses multilevel age-period-cohort model to examine youth's social fairness perceptions and their evolution.Findings indicate that overall social fairness of youth is lower than that of the country as a whole, but the gap is gradually narrowing. In analyzing temporal dynamics,we observe pronounced variations in age effects within the 18-23 bracket, youth's sense of social fairness shows a slow rising during 2013-2017 and a rapid rising during 2017-2021 in period effects, and negligible differentiation in cohort effects.Mechanisms for shaping the sense of social justice are characterized by a shift toward the"daily life"approach.Relevant policies should pay attention to the negative impact of the cumulative disadvantages of life experiences of youth.
