Perceptions of Social Mobility and Positive Social Mentality of Youth
Based on Chinese Social Mentality Survey(2022),this article examines the social mobility perceptions of young individuals and their impact on social mentality.The findings indicate that upward mobility expectations and experiences are prevalent among young people.However,40％of respondents perceive"high expectation and low experience","low expectation and high experience",or"low expectation and low experience"in terms of social mobility.Furthermore,our findings observe that the experience and expectation of upward mobility can effectively enhance the subjective well-being and struggle beliefs of young people by reinforcing their beliefs in class system justification and sense of meaning in life.In conclusion,these results underscore the critical role played by social mobility expectations and experiences as essential psychological resources for fostering a positive social mentality.
