Becoming"New Cultural Elites":The Practice and Mechanism of Community Cadres in Building Identity
Community cadres are important agents of grassroots governance.In the context of rapid social structural transformation and grassroots governance becoming increasingly complex,the image of community cadres as new cultural elites is becoming more prominent.Compared with the traditional cultural elite,the new cultural elites have undergone significant changes in the aspects of identity,cultural advantages,governance authority and cognitive construction.This identity is mainly shaped by institutionalizing cultural capital,professionalizing practical discourse and organizing identity roles.The driving force behind this identity shaping stems from a politics of recognition.However,there are a number of practical dilemmas for this identity shaping and its practical actions in grassroots governance.
