The Disappearing Dialogism:AI Reviews as a False Proposition
The impact of artificial intelligence on journalism has extended from the domain of informational news reporting to opinion-based news comment.AI reviews pose a challenge to commentary writing,which has been considered the"last bastion that cannot be replaced by machines."This article argues that AI reviews do not meet the dialogic requirements of news comment.They possess intelligence but lack wisdom,they use formulas instead of engaging in dialogue,and they provide answers without engaging in questioning.This study analyzes 26 reviews created by the AI writer Xiao Yi,exploring how AI writing eliminates the essential dialogic nature of news comment through topic selection,writing style,and overall effectiveness.The lack of dialogism reduces AI reviews to mere monologues,like"speaking into the air".While humanized AI reviews cannot currently replace human writing,they serve as a reverse test for the mechanized human writing.
