Current Trends and Developments in Organization Communication Research
This paper reviews recent trends and developments in the field of organizational communication and proposes a research agenda for Chinese organizational communication research.Specifically,the paper introduced six prominent theoretical perspectives and research trends of the field,including the constitutive approach of communication,tension-centered perspectives,critical perspectives,non-western theorizing,an empirical focus on organizing process in a variety of contexts,and diversification of research methodologies.Furthermore,the paper proposes a research agenda for advancing Chinese organizational communication research.Future Chinese organizational communication research can expand its boundary to focus on a variety of organizing phenomena,connect with other communication subdisciplines,and develop theoretical insights grounded in the Chinese contexts and philosophies and informed by existing theoretical and methodological approaches.
