English merit-based repair construction plays an important role in communication,translation and second language ac-quisition.From the perspective of interactional linguistics,"Yuqi(shuo)A,Buru(shuo)B"is chosen as a typical case,combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis,and macro-research with micro-research,in order to conduct an in-depth study of the English merit-based repair construction from the angles of linguistic forms,semantics and pragmatics.The study is mainly focused on its pragmatic value in terms of opening a topic,conveying emotions,emphasizing key points,avoiding losing face,changing a topic and summarizing a topic.
