Exploring Strategies for Counteracting Soft Historical Nihilism in Colleges and Universities
Soft historical nihilism is essentially a new variant of historical nihilism,acting recklessly under the form of conceal-ment,deconstructing history with fragmented information,denying history under the cloak of pan-entertainmentism,and subverting histo-ry by blending with Internet populism,which is a serious danger to China's ideological field.Colleges and universities are at the fore-front of China's ideological field,and are particularly affected by the impact of soft historical nihilism,which eliminates the historical i-dentity of the college and university student body,distorts the view of history of young college students,and erodes the mainstream ideo-logical discourse in colleges and universities,we should strengthen the construction of Civics and Political Science courses,emphasize the opening of courses in humanities and social sciences,carry out systematic study and education of the"Four Histories",and build campus culture,etc.,so as to resist the invasion of soft historical nihilism and to stand firm and guard the ideological frontline of the colleges and universities.The University of California at Berkeley is the only university in the world that has a strong ideological front.
