A Study on Types of Mistranslation in Publicity-oriented Translation and Countermeasures
The quality of publicity-oriented translation is directly related to China's external image,communication,and inter-national status.Accurate and concise publicity-oriented translation not only accurately conveys the national image but also boosts exter-nal communication,cultural exchange,and the shaping of a good international image.Conversely,mistranslations in publicity-oriented translation not only fail to achieve the purpose of external exchange but also directly generate negative impacts on our country.This study first clarifies the criteria for mistranslations in publicity-oriented translation,analyzes mistranslations in local publicity materials such as scenic spots,road signs,airports,and train stations over the past three years from the dimensions of language,pragmatics,and cultural differences,and finally modifies some publicity-oriented translation with the cross-cultural perspective.This study aims to explore and summarize the types of mistranslations in publicity-oriented translation,provide countermeasures to overcome mistransla-tions.
