This article delves into the translation strategies of Canadian Sinologist W.A.C.H.Dobson's English version of Menci-us,examining the evolution of his translation philosophy.Influenced by Oxford school of Sinology and the modern Sinological ideas of Arthur Waley,Dobson's translation,characterized by an accessible language and innovative structural arrangement,successfully intro-duced the philosophical ideas of Mencius to Western readers,facilitating the global dissemination of Chinese culture,with significant academic and cultural importance.
