On the Craftsmen's Creation and the Order between Heaven and Earth in Three Classics of Rites
Three Classics of Rites,as the key works of the system of The Books of Changes and The Rites of Zhou Dynasty which are considered the origin of Chinese civilization, cover a wealth of information on the craftsman's creation design. This provides a basis for the systematic understanding of the creation design during the pre-Qin period. From the perspective of modern design studies,re-search has found that the main ideas of the Three Classics of Rites in terms of artifact creation are:firstly, that all craftsmen should fol-low the rules of nature to"create objects";secondly, that they should comply with the order between Heaven and Earth to"align with virtue."These two aspects together fully reflect the unique national characteristic of Chinese artifact creation culture of"Heaven and Man as One,"which offers profound insights for us to reflect on contemporary design's immersion in instrumental rationality and func-tionalism.It also holds positive significance for promoting green design and the development of an ecological civilization in the new era.
