New role of myocardial macrophages in metabolism after myocardial infarctio
Macrophages are part of the innate immune system and the mononuclear phagocyte system, widely present in tissue structures including the heart.Myocardial infarction is a severe ischemic disease, and research indicates that myocardial macrophages play a significant role in post-infarction cardiac metabolism and contribute to the benefits associated with cellular therapy post-myocardial infarction. Thus, optimizing the metabolism of myocardial macrophages could potentially achieve the best cardiac protection.
