Nowadays,aesthetic education constitutes an important aspect of school education,and illustrations in Chinese textbooks are important resources for aesthetic education in schools.The illustrations in primary school Chinese textbooks hold dual aesthetic values:they are a direct display of the aesthetic connotation of literary works;they are also a form of aesthetic representation of painting art.The illustrations in primary school Chinese textbooks have unique aesthetic education functions,which can stimulate interest,inspire learning,promote thinking,and satisfy emotions with beauty.Our research investigations revealed that the illustrations in primary school Chinese textbooks,issued by the Chinese Ministry of Education,present a variety of aesthetic education characteristics,including considerable quantity and comprehensive coverage,unison of structural and content beauty,and arrangement that follows the patterns of students'biological and psychological developments.In order to better integrate the aesthetic education of illustrations with primary school Chinese teaching,as well as to transform the aesthetic education function of textbook illustrations into practice,it is necessary to enhance the aesthetic cognition of illustrations among primary school Chinese teachers,explore the aesthetic value of illustrations,grasp the aesthetic characteristics of illustrations,optimize teaching of illustrations,expand the aesthetic learning space of the Chinese language,and achieve the goal of educating students with aesthetics in the Chinese language discipline.
