Exotic Exploration:A Review of International Herbart Society in the Past Two Decades
As a product of the revival of Herbart's pedagogy in the German academic community after World War Ⅱ,the International Herbart Association has now developed as the largest and most authoritative public welfare academic organization in the world in studying the thoughts of Herbart and Herbartianer.It has a fully legal charter and a mature operating mechanism,attracting researchers from nearly 20 countries around the world.In the past two decades,the International Herbart Association has focused on topics that not only include the interpretation and comparison of Herbart's own philosophy,psychology,aesthetics,ethics,political science,education,and other ideas,but also involved the dissemination and acceptance of the thoughts of Herbart and Herbartianer in other countries.For the method,the relevant research of the International Herbart Association mainly presents four types:traditional hermeneutics research,comparative research,reception history research and empirical research focusing on the combination with modern new media technology.In the future,the domestic academic community on one hand needs to strengthen cooperation and dialogue with the International Herbart Association in the study of Herbart and Herbartianer,participate in the construction of a global digital sharing platform for international Herbart research,and focus on deepening research on topics such as Herbart's formal aesthetics,political philosophy,and the cultivation of children's intellectual,aesthetic,and moral judgment,on the other hand,we can learn from the current operational mechanism of the International Herbart Association and further optimize the institutionalization construction of local schools of education to enhance its international influence.
