A Practices Framework of Social and Emotional Learning at Harvard University and its Implications
Focusing on students'social-emotional competence is an important element of the change in basic education in today's world and a powerful weapon for students around the world to meet the challenges of the 21st century. It essentially responds to the basic mission of education to develop natural human beings into social beings.Against the backdrop of the emotional turn in education reform and practical exploration in countries around the world, the EASEL research team at Harvard University focuses on strategies for the development of social-emotional competence, building a practical framework from the inside out in terms of core elements, environmental elements and process elements. The value of the framework is to guide the way forward for social-emotional learning,i.e.,to build strategies to promote social-emotional learning from four aspects:the cognitive, the family, the school, and the social.
