Exploring the Construction of Pracademia in the Shanghai General Education Science System from the Professional Capital Perspective
"Pracademia,"as a blend of"Practice"and"Academia,"offers a new perspective on understanding the relationship between practice and research."Pracademic"represents an emerging professional identity distinct from interdisciplinary learners,emphasizing the concept of integrating practice and theory.There is a lack of consensus and exploration in the Eastern educational context regarding pracademia.The Shanghai General Education Science System(SGESS)has established organizing strctures,cultivated research teams,and implemented project mechanisms,building the systematic capacity for educational research across the city.This study takes SGESS as a case study to investigate feasible approaches to constructing pracademia at the systemic level.To explore the possibilities of integrating practice and thoery,this study adopts a professional capital perspective.It examines how research actors in SGESS accumulate professional capital to develop into pracademics and focuses on the sustained flow and transformation of professioinal capital within the system.
