The Constructing Mechanisms of Legitimacy of Compulsory Education Group Schooling:An Analysis Based on Network Legitimacy Theory
The legitimacy of group schooling is a preequisite of promoting the stable development of group schooling, while the existing research seems to have not paid enough attention to this issue.Under the guidance of network legitimacy theory,a qualitative case study was designed to deeply reveal the mechanisms of constructing the legitimacy of group schooling. This study found that:(1)the legitimacy of group schooling includes three dimensions:formal, substantive, and interactional legitimacy;(2)the basic idea of constructing the legitimacy of group schooling is to combine the"from inside to outside"institutional approach and the"from outside to inside"strategical approach to form a dual-path construction channel;(3)the construction of formal legitimacy was achieved through the establishment of a"block-and-brick integration"management structure at the group level, the promulgation of regulations, and the clarification of the group's development philosophy;(4)substantive legitimacy was constructed through the"teacher mobility"system, shaping teachers'composite identity;(5)interactional legitimacy was achieved through enhancing the social influence of group schooling;(6)there is a mutually dependent and mutually reinforcing relationship between formal, substantive, and interactional legitimacy. Finally, the limitations of this study were discussed.
