Controversy,Balance and Prospect:Review and Reflection of Western Values Education Practice Models
From the perspective of Halstead,traditional western values education faces the controversy of whether schools should instill values into students or let them explore their own values,which has led to two practice models of values education represented by character education and values clarification.With the development of the society,seeking a balance between the two controversial views was becoming gradually a trend,the consideration model and the jurisprudential inquiry model had begun to receive attention.How about the values education practice model in the future?Combined with the review of the western values education practice model from controversy to balance,some new directions can be found:from the conceptual practice to the practical concept,from the empty situation to the actual situation,and from the known response to the unknown response.
