Beyond STEM:Main Characteristics and Current Insights from the MINT Education Curriculum in Germany
Amid the globalization of information technology,school science education has become an important prerequisite for scientific innovation and technological development in various countries,having prowess in significantly improving the overall scientific literacy of population and the national power.Since the 21st century,German governments regarded MINT education as a cure for mitigating the shortage of skilled technical labour overcoming the slow pace of technological innovation,aiming at cultivating high-quality scientific and technical talents,achieving remarkable success.Alongside the Industry 4.0,MINT education in Germany has also stepped into the fourth phase featuring in information technology,presenting new characteristics:The goal of MINT education is to build students'comprehensive scientific literacy;The content is based on cross-curricular subject learning,characterized by the comprehensiveness,sociality and multi-disciplinarity;The curriculum implementation follows the basic requirements of"project-based learning",highlighting the action orientation;The supportive system of curriculum based on the multi-agent sustainable MINT education chain guarantees the final effect of curriculum implementation.The MINT education curriculum in Germany provides practical significance for the development of science education and curriculum system construction in our country.
