Why Does Contemporary Capitalism Survive?——A Study of Lefebvre's The Survival of Capitalism
Lefebvre asserted that Marx and Lenin were undoubtedly correct in their political assertions about the demise and mortality of capitalism in relation to the crisis-ridden competitive capitalism of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. However, what neither Marx nor Lenin anticipated was that in practice the bour-geoisie had to change itself, and has literally changed itself, for the survival of the capitalist system.Capital-ism,on the other hand, has gained a new space for its own development-the production of space-by means of the"reproduction of social relations",and been able to survive in a limited way.
