"Female Celestial"and"Demonization"——Comparative Analysis of Female Image in The Golden Lotus and The Tale of Khun Chang Khun Phaen
The Golden Lotus and The Tale of Khun Chang Khun Phaen are outstanding works in classical Chi-nese and Thai literature. The two works have successfully created a series of highly realistic and typical char-acters,especially female images, including the image of a virtuous lady who is opposed and bound, the image of an"out of integrity"adulteress who is alienated and stigmatized, and the image of an unloved young woman who is ignored and damaged.Based on the similarity,a comprehensive and detailed comparative analysis of these female images using the method of comparative literary parallelism will be of great benefit to our deeper understanding of the state of female's existence in the ancient Chinese and Thai countries and the correspond-ing deep-seated cultural reasons. At the same time,it is helpful for us to summarize the aesthetic value of simi-lar literary works and the rules of literary creation in Eastern countries,to demonstrate the unique charm and richness of Eastern literature, and to reveal the commonality of the human cultural knowledge system and the uniqueness of literature.
