The rapid development of digital trade has subverted the traditional theoretical paradigm of interna-tional economics and international business. The pioneering practice of Chinese scholars in the field of digital trade provides a golden opportunity for the construction of China's independent digital trade knowledge sys-tem.Based on the facts of China's digital trade development, this article takes classical Western trade and business theories as references, comprehensively sorts out the original contributions of Chinese scholars, and makes appropriate references to valuable cutting-edge research in the West. Then,it proposes a general ana-lytical framework for digital trade.Specifically, digital technology is the foundation for the development of digi-tal trade. The six main subjects namely digital technologies, platforms, consumers, data, global companies, and smart manufacturing and their intrinsic relationships constitute the main analytical framework of digital trade based on digital technology innovation. These main subjects are the core research areas of digital trade.Based on this, this article develops a consumer preference-based global trade platform sub-analytical framework con-sisting of six key research areas, namely, trade costs, multilateral trade, global ecological networks, total factor productivity, labor markets, and digital trade rules.Meanwhile,it develops a demand-driven global firm sub-analytical framework consisting of six key research areas, namely, platform ecosystems, organizational change, business models, supply chain management, digital marketing, and digital mergers and acquisitions. The digi-tal trade analysis framework is a dynamically evolving academic paradigm, which is conducive to promoting the formation of a digital trade discipline system, academic system, and discourse system with Chinese charac-teristics.
