Song of the Lute Player by BAI Ju-yi:Scene Restoration and Identity Confirmation
BAI Ju-yi,as the Tang Dynasty poet,with outstanding achievements and unprecedented heights in the creation of long narrative poems have opened up a brand new situation in Chinese poetic art.His long poem Song of the Lute Player is both his masterpiece and the pinnacle of Chinese poetic narrative art.In this regard,scholars ranging from HONG Mai of the Song Dynasty to modern intellectuals such as CHEN Yin-ke have engaged in profound exploration,offering much valuable insight.Yet,alongside these contributions,there have also existed certain perceptual misunderstandings.Based on the inheritance of the academic tradition of the previous generation,this article adopts a methodology that primarily focuses on literary research while inte-grating multidisciplinary approaches to reconstruct the scene and to confirm identity.It delves into the nature of the banquet at the head of the Xunyang River,the change of the identity of the Lute woman and the ups and downs of her destiny,as well as its intrinsic connection with the poet's fate and state of mind,so as to deepen the understanding of the historical and cultural connotation of the poem.
