Simulation of air temperature and precipitation over Qinghai-Xizang Plateau with RegCM3 model
With the NCEP reanalysis data and the observational data, we present a preliminary evaluation of the performance of three different cumulus parameterization schemes in the ICTP Regional Climate Model RegCM3 over the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau during the summer (June-July-August), especially for temperature and precipitation. The model can well reproduce the large scale circulation characteristics and the distribution of air temperature and precipitation over the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, but it has some deviations of the value. Three cumulus parameterization schemes can also produce the same change trend of air temperature with the observational data, but they also have cold bias (5-6 ℃). Scheme of Kuo-Anthes has the better performance because Scheme of Grell trends to produce more precipitation, but it's necessary to improve the model's ability of the precipitation simulation.
