Ionic Liquid Ultrasound-microwave Synergistic Assisted Hydrodistillation Extraction of Nutmeg Essential Oil and its Biological Activity
To study the extraction process of nutmeg essential oil using ionic liquid ultrasound-microwave synergistic assisted hydrodistillation(IUMHD),single factor and response surface methodology were used to optimize extraction process. When the optimal extraction conditions are 3%[EMIm]BF4 aqueous solution,liquid-material ratio of 16.5∶1(mL/g),ultrasound power 99W,ultrasound time 15min,microwave power 300W,and microwave time 152 s,the extraction yield of nutmeg essential oil was 8.49±0.23%,which was higher than 6.41±0.23%of hydrodistillation(HD)extraction. The essential oil components that were extracted by HD and IUMHD were similar, only contents exhibited differences. The antioxidant activity of nutmeg essential oils that extracted by IUMHD was slightly decreased, while its inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus had no significant difference. This indicates that the extraction of nutmeg essential oil using the IUMHD method is feasible.
