Pei Qi's Yulin,a biographical novel which focused on describing characters,was the first novel of this type.Its outstanding contribution in art was mainly reflected in the shaping of the characters'images,and its detail description,topography description and text structure were also quite brilliant.What was particularly prominent was that a scattered text structure was used in Yulin to provide multidimensional perspectives on the overall image of the characters.In terms of detailed description,the author was adept at capturing typical details and showcasing the personalities of the characters through events,showing their emotions vividly.In terms of appearance description,the characters in the book were"neither exaggerated,nor mysterious,but elegant".Moreover,the text structure of the book presents a highly spatial effected with a scattered structure,where the same character echoed each other in different entries,fully utilizing the"seeing each other"method in historical works.In addition,this scattered text structure shapes characters with similarities to drama,which was specifically manifested in the form of dialogue and monologue in Yulin.
