As one of the representatives of excellent traditional Chinese music culture,the Dong ethnic group's polyphonic songs were listed in the national and world intangible cultural heritage catalogs in 2006 and 2009.By the visualization software Cite Space to examine the academic papers published in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)from 1982 to 2022,this paper analyzes the evolution of research on Dong ethnic polyphonic songs,its focuses and future trends.The results show that over the past 40 years,the research on these songs has gradually increased,going through three stages:struggling to start,rapidly rising,and steadily progressing.Its historical origin,artistic characteristics,aesthetic construction,social functions,and inheritance protection have been the hot areas of continuous attention in the academic community during this period.In the future,strengthening academic exchanges and cooperation,deepening the relationship between the musicality and literature,the"interaction and coexistence"with the cultures of surrounding ethnic groups,and its overseas dissemination research will become new perspectives for expanding the re-search on Dong ethnic group's polyphonic songs.
