生态翻译学视阈下《淮南子》文化负载词英译研究
A Study on English Translation of Culture-loaded Words in Huainanzi from the Perspective of Eco-translatology

摘要
基于生态翻译学理论框架,从"三维"转换视角对《淮南子》约翰·梅杰译本和翟江月、牟爱鹏译本中的文化负载词英译进行对比研究,探究两个译本在语言维、文化维及交际维中对文化负载词的不同处理.研究发现:在语言维度,梅译本倾向直译,而翟译本注重音译;在文化维度,梅译本借助脚注,详细阐明原著中的特定文化元素,翟译本则通过省略细节,降低文化传达的复杂性;在交际维度,两个译本都采用了英语中的对应概念进行翻译,符合目标读者的预期和需要.两个译本在"三维"转换中的适应性选择对中国典籍的对外传播和中国文化"走出去"有着积极意义.
Abstract
Based on the theoretical framework of Eco-translatology,a comparative study is conducted on culture-loaded words in English translations of Huainanzi by John Major,Zhai Jiangyue and Mou Aipeng from the perspective of the"three-dimensional"transformation.The different treatments of cultural loaded words in the language,culture and communicative dimensions between two translations will be discussed.It is found that:in terns of language,Major tends to be literal translation,while Zhai focuses on translit-eration;in terms of cultural dimension,Major clarifies the specific cultural elements in the original text with the help of footnotes,while Zhai reduces the complexity of cultural communication by omitting the details;and in terms of communication,the both use the corre-sponding concepts from English to meet expectations and needs of the target readers.The adaptive choices of the two translations in the"three-dimensional"transformation has positive significance for the external dissemination of Chinese classics and the"going out"of Chinese culture.
