Negotiations of the South China Sea Territory from the Perspective of Modern Diplomatic Transformation
Since modern times, maritime territory crises have occurred frequently and related negotiations have been frequent. There have been negotiations on the sovereignty of Dongsha between China and Japan in the late Qing Dy-nasty,on the maritime products of Dongsha between China and Japan in the Republic of China,on the sovereignty of the Xisha Islands between China and France, and on nine small islands in the South China Sea.The negotiations of the South China Sea territory relied on the diplomatic service to hold the overall situation, and could not be separated from the participation and support of the local government in Guangdong. With the weakening of local diplomatic power,mari-time negotiations once presented a complex situation where the central and local governments respectively led or cooper-ated with each other.
