Place Names Habitually Used by Fishermen in Genglubu from the Perspective of Cultural Ecology
Place names have rich natural and cultural connotations. From the perspective of cultural ecology, the emergence, formation, development, dissemination, survival, and elimination of place names habitually used by fisher-men in Genglubu not only reflect the game between the early fishermen in Hainan and nature, but also show the two-way interaction between environment and culture. From the perspective of the classification and composition of place names, the production of place names habitually used by early fishermen is greatly restricted by the natural environment of the South China Sea,and the navigation experience and technology, social culture, and concepts of fishermen groups also leave traces in their formation. With the geographical diffusion, intergenerational transmission and the use of transi-tional technologies of Genglubu, place names habitually used by fishermen have become more abundant and accurate in the process of development and dissemination. With the penetration of highly developed modern social technology and the changes in domestic and international environment, survival, elimination, and change of place names habitually used by fishermen in daily life are facing challenges and opportunities.
