Cutting Propagation of Mallotus furetianus (Miq.) Muell.Arg
Mallotus furetianus is a wild tea plant of great development value.Cutting propagation of M.furetianus was conducted with young lignified shoots (1~2 years old)of M.furetianus naturally grown in Wuzhishan as the cutting material and sand as the culture medium. The shoot fragments of different size (length of about 10 cm,diameter of 0.20~0.40, 0.45~0.70, 0.75 ~1.00 cm) were soaked in Gen Wang, IBA, NAA, IAA using different concentrations (100, 400, 800 mg/L)of different time(0.5, 2.0 and 8.0 h).The results showed that the treatments of the cuttings with length of about 10 cm and diameter of 0.45~0.70 cm produced the best results; the highest rooting rates (50% or more)produced with Gen Wang or IBA; Of the different concentrations of growth regulator treatments, 800 mg/L of IBA was optimal with the rooting rate of 60% and average root number of 13; and the best rooting treatment was dipping or soaking the base of cuttings in the solutions for 0.5 h.
