The Relationship Between the Disease Resistance and Pericarp Structure in Mango (Mangifern indica)
In order to define the relativeship between the pericarp structure and disease resistance in Mango, fruit hardness, changes of electrical conductivity and disease index were tested on Zihua and Irwin mango and the difference of disease resistance was defined. At the same time, the paraffin section was conducted for observing the pericarp structure. The results showed that compared with Zihua mango, Irwin mango fruit hardness was decreased rapidly, conductivity was increased rapidly, the disease index for Irwin mango was higher than that of Zihua mango. Irwin mango has loose pericarp structure, and sclerenchyma cell layers was lesser, cuticle thickness was thin, the distance between vascular tissue and epidermal layer was lesser than Zihua mango. Above these may be one of the reason why pathogen infection was easier to Irwin mango than to Zihua mango.
