Patterns of Community Structure Diversity and Species Diversity Among Tropical Vegetation Dynamics in Central Regions of Hainan Island
The patterns of community structure, species diversity, and the correlations between them were explored based on tropical vegetation succession series including grassland, shrub, secondary forest and primary forest in central regions of Hainan Island. Results showed that number of plant family, number of genus, number of species, overall Shannon-Wiener index, overall Margalef's index,Shannon-Wiener index and Margalef's index of shrub layers and tree layers,as well as vertical structure diversity index, increased from grassland stage to primary forest stage.Community structure diversity was significantly correlated with the number of family, number of genus, number of species, overall alpha species diversity, alpha species diversity of shrub layers and tree layers. These results suggest that vegetation restoration can enhance the complexity and quality of vegetation.
