By integrating root auger method and geostatistics analysis, the spatial structures of black pepper at different ages of 1.5,2.5,8.0 and 15.0 a were analyzed and the horizontal distribution were also simulated by kriging interpolation. The results showed that roots at the horizontal direction from different ages showed strong degree of spatial autocorrelation and their spatial structural ratio in the semi-variogram ranged from 85.6%~99.8%.The range of total root length in the semi-variogram peaked at 8.0 a and maintained at 8.0 a;while with the age of trees increasing, the range of fine root length showed the increasing trend, followed by the decreasing trend and then increasing trend. The simulation by kriging interpolation showed a good fitting with absolute errors less than 1 cm and relative errors less than 20%.The simulated maps also directly showed the dynamic changes of root horizontal distribution of black pepper with different ages from temporal and spatial aspects. This work could be helpful for the precise regulation of water and fertilizer and other field managements in the black pepper orchards.
