Analysis and Experimental Research on Lubrication Performance of Textured Cylinder Liners Considering Time-dependent Effects
The time-dependent effect and pressure changes in combustion chamber cannot be ignored, and the influence of texture morphology parameters on engine fuel consumption performance also needs further research. The hydrodynamic lubrication model of cylinder liner-piston ring with micro-pits texture was established. The multigrid method was used to solve the model to obtain the distribution law of lubrication oil film pressure, and then the minimum oil film thickness and the friction force between the cylinder liner-piston ring were obtained.Bench test was conducted on the engines with tex-tured cylinder liners. The calculation results show that the change of gas pressure affects the radial force of the piston ring, and the extrusion effect affects the cylinder liner-piston ring under the time-varying effects.Textured cylinder liners can increase lubricant film thickness and reduce friction force. When the depth of micro-pits is from 4 μm to 7 μm and the tex-ture area density is small, such as 5%or 10%,the optimal minimum oil film thickness and friction force value can be achieved.By the engine bench test,it is found that compared with the original engine, the oil consumption of the engine with textured cylinder liner shows a declining trend. The reduction in fuel consumption is more significant at medium and high speeds, with a maximum reduction of 14.5%in fuel consumption and a 26.48%reduction in 24-hour engine oil consumption.
