A Piston Ring-Cylinder Liner Test Bench Considering Temperature Distribution and Pre-tension Effects
To investigate the effect of different cylinder liner temperatures on the friction performance of piston ring with pre-tension,a test bench for the frictional properties of piston ring with pre-tension considering the temperature distribu-tion of cylinder liner was developed. Its block and cylinder liner assembly is designed based on the floating cylinder liner method, which supplies lubricating oil from the top through an oil supply cap.The piston ring is installed using a piston ring clamp, and three annular electric heaters are installed on the outer wall of the cylinder liner to preheat the cylinder liner. When the piston ring is not loaded and only under the condition of pre-tension,only changing the temperature distribution of the cylinder liner, the influence of different temperature distribution of the cylinder liner on the friction performance of the piston ring-cylinder liner system was studied. The results show that as the temperature of the cylinder liner increases, the friction force and power consumption of the piston ring-cylinder liner friction pair show a trend of first decreasing and then increasing. For the studied piston ring-cylinder liner friction pair, the friction force and power consumption are the smallest when the cylinder liner temperature is between 60 ℃ to 70 ℃.Therefore, there exists an appropriate cylinder liner temperature to optimize the friction performance of the piston ring-cylinder liner friction pair.
