Based on analysis of the chemical composition, mechanical properties and weldability of SA516 Gr.65 steel, the test pieces were welded by shielded metal arc welding and submerged arc welding respectively, and the extension tests, bending tests and the Charpy impact tests under normal temperatures were conducted with the welding points. The test results show that when the appropriate welding specifications are employed by the shielded metal arc welding and the submerged arc welding, the performance of the weld can meet the performance of products.
