Research on CMT Welding-Brazing Technology of Aluminum Alloy and Copper Plated Steel
AlSi12 flux-cored wire was used as filler material to conduct cold metal transfer(CMT)butt welding experiments for 2 mm thick 6082 aluminum alloy and Q235B copper-coated steel plates. The influence of different welding speed and Cu layer thickness on the weld formation, interfacial structure and mechanical properties of the joint was studied, and the influence of Cu element on the growth of intermetallic compound layer(IMC)was discussed. The results show that when the welding speed is 350 mm/min,the aluminum has good wetting and spreading on the front and back surfaces of the steel plate, and the welding seam is beautiful;too large or too small IMC layer thickness has an adverse effect on the joint performance. When the Cu layer thickness is 10 μm,the thickness of the IMC layer is 2.38 μm,and the tensile strength of the joint reaches a peak value of 138.7 MPa,which is 31.9%higher than that of the uncoated joint. The joint break in the heat affected zone of the Al side. The copper plating layer can inhibit the formation of the θ-Fe(Al,Si)3 phase in the interface layer, hinder the reaction of Al and Fe,and reduce the thickness of the IMC layer.Appropriate copper layer thickness can effectively improve the mechanical properties of the joint.Excessive thickness of the copper layer promotes the formation of Al2Cu phase, which becomes the weak area of the joint.
