Effect of Microstructure on Mechanical Properties of Q355B Steel Plate in Different Directions
The effects of microstructure on the mechanical properties of Q355B steel plate along different directions is studied by tensile, impact and fatigue tests at room temperature and analysis of microstructure. The results show that the tensile and impact properties of Q355B steel plate along rolling and transverse direction under different microstructure meet the standard requirement. The tensile and impact properties of the steel plate along the thickness direction change a little when bainite is distributed on the matrix. These properties are reduced, but still meet the standard when the banded microstructures distribute on the matrix. These properties greatly reduces and can not meet the standard when large banded inclusions distribute on the matrix.Under different microstructure,Q355B steel plate has good fatigue resistance along rolling and transverse direction. The fatigue performance along the thickness direction has no correlation with the microstructure due to the influence of the inclusions and the welding defects.According to the analysis results,it is proposed to control the sulfur content and element segregation in raw materials to reduce and eliminate the production of inclusions and band microstructure,so as to improve the performance in the thickness direction.
