Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Mg-3Y-1.5Ce-0.5Zr Alloy at Different Extrusion Temperatures
The hot extrusion tests of forged Mg-3Y-1.5Ce-0.5Zr alloy at different temperatures were carried out.The effects of different extrusion temperatures(320-380℃)on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy were investigated by means of metallographic microscope, tensile test and fracture morphology observation. The results show that the grains of Mg-3Y-1.5Ce-0.5Zr alloy are refined to a certain extent after extrusion at different temperatures. With the increase of extrusion temperature, the grain size of the alloy decreases first and then increases. The average grain size of the alloy extruded at 350℃is the smallest and the microstructure uniformity is the best. With the increase of extrusion temperature, the tensile strength and elongation of the alloy increase first and then decrease. The tensile strength and elongation of Mg-3Y-1.5Ce-0.5Zr alloy extruded at 350℃reach the maximum values of 276.3 MPa and 17.6%respectively.
