Investigation of Heat Treatment Process of A New Cast Aluminum-copper Alloy
Cast Al-Cu alloy has many components, complex smelting process, difficult forming process and poor mechanical property stability, which seriously restricts the wide application of cast Al-Cu alloy in key parts of high-end equipment. The optimal heat treatment process of a new cast Al-Cu alloy was determined by orthogonal experiments. The microstructure of the alloy was characterized by OM,SEM and TEM.Besides, the relationship between the microstructure and the properties of the alloy was investigated. The results show that the best heat-treat process for obtaining high strength of the new cast Al-Cu alloy is solid solution at 535℃for 8 h,aging at 170℃for 6 h.The averaye tensile strength and elongation of the alloy reach 518 MPa and 5.8%,respectively,which has good mechanical properties. The average grain size of the alloy is grade 7,the second phases precipitated during aging are evenly distributed at grain boundary. The fracture of the tensile specimen has a large number of fine dimples with obvious river-like tearing edges.
