Research and Application on Welding Technology of Stainless Steel and Aluminum Alloy Dissimilar Materials
The emergency discharge test tooling is welded by dissimilar materials of 304 stainless steel and 6061 aluminum alloy.Due to different chemical compositions and melting points of the two materials,a variety of Fe-Al brittle intermetallic compounds and eutectic mixed structures were formed in the weld during the fusion-brazing welding, which caused serious cracing and pores defects. The welding process of butt welding and T type welding structures of 304 stainless steel/6061 aluminum alloy dissimilar materials was studied.Firstly, the aluminum-iron bronze material was welded at the side of 304 stainless steel as the intermediate transition layer, then ER5356 welding wire was used to weld the 6061 aluminum alloy and the intermediate transition layer,so that the fusion between the steel and the aluminum alloy was realized. The AC square wave TIG welding and appropriate welding parameters were used to control the formation of brittle intermetallic compounds and eutectic mixed structures in the welding process of steel and aluminum dissimilar materials, and the problem that the dissimilar materials of stainless steel and aluminum alloy could not be fused was solved. The obtained weld has good mechanical properties, and the welding process is successfully used in the welding of emergency discharge test tooling.
