Effects of Melt Purification and Quenching on Solidification Structure and Mechanical Properties of La Containing Hypereutectic Al-Si Alloy
The effects of melt purification and quenching on the solidification structure and mechanical properties of Al-(16-24)Si-0.1La alloy were studied by optical microscope,scanning electron microscope and differential scanning calorimeter.The reults show that,compared with that of melt quenching,the synergistic effects of melt purification and quenching can completely inhibit the precipitation of primary silicon in hypereutectic Al-Si-0.lLa alloy with silicon content less than 20wt%,significantly refine the eutectic structure in Al-(16-24)Si-0.1La alloy,and improve the microhardness of the eutectic structure.Therefore,the collaborative treatment of melt purification and quenching is an effective method to improve the solidification structure and mechanical properties of hypereutectic Al-Si alloy.
