Numerical Simulation on Filling of Tilting Casting of Structural Mutation Shell Component
Taking filling process of aluminum alloy oil pump shell casting in a deep well position as the research object, the fluid calculation software Fluent and the user-defined function(UDF)method were used to study the morphology of the alloy liquid flow front during the filling process under different geometric parameters, the reasons for the formation of regular oxide film defects were revealed. The results show that increasing the distance between the well and the filling gate makes the flow speed increase,it causes vortexes and turbulence, and the defects such as gas entrapment and oxide film are formed.During the structure design process,it should be ensured that the length of the flow channel before the deep well is inversely proportional to the depth of the deep well, reducing the cutting angle and increasing the height of the flow channel after the deep well,so the turbulence is suppressed, the formation of air entrainment and oxide film defects is reduced. The conclusion has been fully verified by water simulation experiments.
