Digital Economy and High-quality Development in Yangtze River Delta Region:Spatio-temporal Effect and Mechanism Test
Based on the panel data of 41 prefecture-level and above cities in the Yangtze River Delta, the fixed effect mod-el,spatial Durbin model, mediating effect model, and panel threshold model are used to empirically test the spatial and tem-poral effects of digital economy on high-quality development and the mechanism of action. This study found that the digital economy positively affects the high-quality development of local and neighboring regions and that the long-term impact is greater than the short-term.Along with the increase in geographical distance, the spatial spillover of the digital economy to high-quality development shows a phase change from positive to negative, with 485 km as its effective spillover boundary. The mechanism analysis shows that green innovation, industrial agglomeration, and foreign capital inflow can all positively mediate the intrinsic link between the digital economy and high-quality development, and there is also a gradient enhance-ment process of the high-quality development effect of the digital economy moderated by mechanism variables. The hetero-geneity analysis shows that the impact of the digital economy on high-quality development shows significant structural differences at the level of city location, city size, and city nature.
