高铁开通改善了企业ESG表现吗?——绿色技术创新的中介效应

摘要
以企业所在城市是否开通高铁为准自然实验,运用多时点双重差分模型检验高铁开通对企业ESG表现的影响.研究发现:(1)高铁开通改善了企业ESG表现;(2)高铁开通显著提升了企业绿色技术创新水平,从而改善了ESG表现.其中,绿色技术创新在高铁开通与企业环境表现和社会责任的关系中发挥部分中介效应,对公司治理没有明显提升作用;(3)在财务状况较好、资本市场关注较高、城市发展情况较好的样本中,高铁开通对企业ESG表现的提升作用更显著.
Abstract
Using the natural experiment of whether the city where the enterprise is located has opened high-speed rail as the standard,a multi-time point difference in difference model is used to test the impact of high-speed rail opening on en-terprises'ESG performance.Results show that(1)the opening of high-speed rail has improved enterprises'ESG per-formance.(2)The opening of high-speed rail has significantly improved the level of green technology innovation in enter-prises,thereby improving ESG performance.Among them,green technology innovation plays a partial mediating effect in the relationship between high-speed rail opening and corporate environmental performance and social responsibility but does not significantly improve corporate governance.(3)Among the samples with good financial conditions,high capital market attention,and good urban development,the opening of high-speed rail has a more significant impact on the ESG perform-ance of enterprises.
