Influence and Mechanism of Digital Economy Development on Urban Manufacturing Spatial Agglomeration
Based on the panel data of 283 prefecture-level cities in China,this paper investigates the influence and mecha-nism of digital economy development on urban manufacturing agglomeration.The results indicate that the development of the digital economy has a significant diffusion effect on manufacturing agglomeration.The mechanism test shows that the digital economy affects manufacturing agglomeration by indirectly strengthening urban economic connections and developing the modern service industry.Meanwhile,the construction of Internet infrastructure and the rising labor costs further strengthen the diffusion effect of the digital economy,playing a regulatory role.The threshold and spatial models also show that the dig-ital economy's impact on manufacturing agglomeration exhibits non-linear and spatial spillover features.Heterogeneity a-nalysis shows that the diffusion effect is more significant in the eastern and central regions,large-scale cities,and cities with high housing prices.
