Strategic Configurations and Their Evolution Pathways for Standard Competition in Strategic Emerging Industries:A Study Based on Dynamic QCA
Using standard and patent data from 255 enterprises participating in the standard-setting activities of China's e-lectric vehicle industry from 2010 to 2021,this paper employs dynamic qualitative comparative analysis(QCA)on panel da-ta to discuss the configuration modes of enterprises deploying standard competition strategy to win the dominant design, and the evolution mechanism of enterprise standard competition strategy under the time dimension. Results show that:(1)there are four adaptation configurations, including"reinforcement between technical standards and intellectual property","stand-ard followers with alliance strategy","growth-oriented and standards-leading companies",and"standard leader with alli-ance strategy".(2)There are three evolutionary paths for strategic configurations of standard competition in strategic emer-ging industries:from the"collaboration between technical standards and intellectual property rights"type to the"leadership in scale and standardization"type, from the"standard alliance following"type to the"leadership in scale and standardiza-tion"type,and from no strategy to"standard leader with alliance strategy".
