The Influence of Drivers'Risk Perception Ability on Driving Decisions under Different Risk Levels
Objective This study examined the effect of drivers'risk perception abilities(high, low)on driving de-cisions at different traffic risk levels(high, low, and no),as well as their visual search features. Methods We used a risk perception video test to divide 40 young drivers into a high risk perception group and a low risk perception group, then, they were shown pictures of traffic with different levels of risk and asked to make decisions about whether to slow down,we recorded driving decision, reaction time and eye movement. Results At the low-risk level, drivers with high risk perception scored significantly higher in deceleration decision-making than drivers with low risk perception. At the no-risk level, drivers with high risk perception had significantly longer total fixation duration and gaze duration than drivers with low risk perception, and significantly more fixation counts than drivers with low risk perception. Conclusion Drivers with high risk perception pay more attention to risk search and make more cautious driving decisions. The research results provide a reference for driver's driving safety training and risk perception ability testing.
