Factors Influencing the Safety Time Reserved for Children Crossing the Street
Objective To further explore the influencing factors of time to contact for children crossing the street. Methods Recruit 39 primary school students to study children's street crossing behavior under different exper-imental scenarios.Based on the collision time of children crossing the street, the effects of being an only child, the lo-cation of the oncoming lane, and the presence of pedestrians on children crossing the street were studied. Results Under the condition of no pedestrian accompanying, when the oncoming vehicle is in the first lane, the cross street col-lision time of the non only child group is significantly longer than that of the only child group, and there is no signifi-cant difference between the two when the oncoming vehicle is in the second lane; When accompanied by pedestrians, the non only child group had significantly longer street crossing collision times when the oncoming vehicle was in the second lane compared to the only child group. However, there was no significant difference between the two when the oncoming vehicle was in the first lane.Conclusion(1)Non only children are more cautious and have better street crossing skills than only children.(2)Compared to the condition of accompanied pedestrians, children crossing the street without accompanying pedestrians are more cautious.(3)When the oncoming vehicle is in the first lane, non only children crossing the street without accompanying pedestrians are more cautious; When the oncoming vehicle is in the second lane,it is more cautious to cross the street with pedestrians accompanying non only children.
